Until now, no one has dared question the question of ages... except for Gamespot and a number of other websites with nothing else to do. BUT, only we dare unmask the answer that has been shrouded in the ancient clouds of mystery for eons.

I haven't yet played HL2, but I'm afraid Doom 3 gets my vote. Overall, I was quite entertained by it. Farcry just didn't do it for me, even though many people love it.

Yes, but that would be because you haven't played Half-Life 2 Smile

It depends what it is you're after. For me, the atmosphere and well crafted storytelling just entertained me. Also, the graphics were great Smile

Actually, a lot of people I know weren't big fans of HL2's story. At least we're all in agreement tht both are better than the one in Farcry...

Doom 3:

Nice look, lame story
A scripted hell with very bad performance.
but cool Maps in MP (open windows, shutdown generators)
_____

FarCry:

Mann I like the soldier's AI and love the paradise look but ..
When I first saw those silly monsters I quited playing.
Since that never played SP again.
_____

Half Life 2
Gorden Freeman+Antlions+Strider+Combine+Gravity Gun+Dog
= the best atmosphere I've ever expirienced.
I'm loving it.

All 3 games are very good, but HL2 is "DA BEST".

Source Engine 4ever

ahh you see when you start speaking about engines your way off the mark...becuase yes source engine is good but as i have heard it described the source engine is the best of todays engines and doom 3's engine is the first of the next....so i have to say doom 3 has the better engine personally.

Half-Life 2 was a steaming pile of "chocolate cake" made for a 10 year old target audience with the attention span of a doorstop. The gameplay was barely mediocre until they completely screwed it over with long, boring cutscenes every 5 minutes and drawn-out vehichle sequences with absolutely no challenge other than trying to stay interested long enough. The story seemed like it was written in 15 minutes and the ending was quite possibly the worst I have ever seen.
The only difficulty in the game play arose from figuring the correct path to take when all the other paths resulted in death. The idea that single player Half-Life 2 is worth any more than the going rate of a 5 year old game is a joke that apparently a lot of people take seriously as the only thing they seem to care about is pyrotechnics.
Although it's not something I'd play, Counterstrike Source was really the only decent thing to come from HL2, even though the two practically have nothing in common.

Sorry -- I lost you about half way through that. Must be my attention span.

Now if you'll excuse me, I've got a lovely slice of chocolate cake here.
